Hi, I’m Rebecca - I am a born and bred Wairarapa local and live with my husband and two children in the most gorgeous little village, Greytown.
If I think about my photography in a nutshell, a few words would spring to mind – emotion, story, energy, connection and detail. I try to shoot so the emotion is evident, the story is there, and the energy is infectious.
All of these attributes I take along with me when shooting both commercial and family work. I believe it is important to understand your clients, to spend the time to get to know them. Find out what makes them tick and what is important to them, whether it is capturing those special moments within their family or creating stand out imagery for their business – it is about the people.
I have my own photography studio in Greytown which gives me the flexibility to not only shoot on location, but also to offer studio portraits, corporate head shots as well as product and food photography.
Rebecca Kempton Art is my brand for my fine art work. I adore chasing the beautiful light to capture the world around me in a way that showcases the layers, textures and forms of landscape to create emotive, painterly artworks . I have exhibited a number of times both privately and as part of art groups including having my work exhibited multiple times at Aratoi Museum of Art, NZ Academy of Fine Arts and in private galleries. My art work is predominantly exhibited at Te Hūpēnui / Greytown Gallery of Contemporary and Fine Art and shipped to clients both within NZ and internationally.
I hold a Master of Photography (Distinction) II Bar with the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography and have won multiple awards including Finalist for NZ Landscape Photographer of the Year 2024/2023/2021 and Finalist for NZ Documentary Photographer of the Year 2024/2019/2018
"
Rebecca is able to capture amazing images in a real and honest, yet beautiful way. At The Wairarapa Journal we like to represent Wairarapa as the unique and varied place that it is and that is exactly what Rebecca has the ability to do. She is entirely professional, yet puts her subjects instantly at ease. She has an impressive portfolio in landscape work but she is equally at home photographing portraiture and commercial work, as she very quickly deciphers how to achieve the perfect image."

"Thank you so much Rebecca, we are thrilled with our photos. You’ve given us a consistent look for our tablet range and they look amazing. It’s been a pleasure dealing with you and we love your passion and enthusiasm to get things just right for us"
